Looking to access conservation lands?

The vision - Much of our culture comes from relationships to the land, whether it’s for art, creating tools, harvesting food, gathering medicines, traveling our water trails, and or finding places to organize community members around these activities. Upwards of 20% of land in Maine is managed by some form of conservation and part of our mission is to reopen these lands for cultural access. The only constraint is that Federal, State, or Conservation lands are using different sources of funding to buy lands and that can come with restrictions (e.g. no timber harvesting). We are working to streamline this to the best of our ability by identifying lands that have fewer restrictions that are managed by groups interested in providing knowledge, safety, and privacy for Wabanaki harvesters. You can see an example of this work that we completed with Wabanaki Public Health and Wellness called, supporting the mobile food pantry. If you are looking for access to land or species, we can help you too! If there are places or species of interest to you, please contact us and we can prioritize those areas. As we build access overtime, we can host them in a private platform for all tribal members to access.
