First Light and Doug Beck–the point person on the Land and Water Conservation Funding (LWCF) for the State of Maine–recently organized a workshop for tribal members about the process of writing a successful application to receive a LWCF grant. LWCF is a funding source to help local, state, and tribal governments buy land and/or construct improvements on Land for Conservation and Outdoor Recreational Objectives. The fund could be useful for Tribes who seek to acquire land for recreational purposes. The workshop covered what can and can not be funded, provided tips for the application process and answered questions from Tribal members about LWCF and grant requirements. If you’d like to view a recording of the training, please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you the file.
