Deirdre Whitehead has been working with Tribal and local historians, a Tribal artist and Julia Bates from the Abbe Museum to design 3 interpretive panels for the Long Point Preserve in Machiasport. The place based panels describe three thousand years of Wabanaki history, European settlement and the natural resources that have enabled thousands of years of human habitation at Long Point.  The panels utilize original art work, Passamaquoddy language and old pictures and stories of Machiasport. This project was funded by a private donation.
